“What I am doing today surprises nobody more than myself”, claims Cole, a self-taught photographic artist who has built an extraordinary career in image making over the past two decades.

Since dropping out of high school to discover what it was she wanted to do, it seems that photography found her, identified her and ultimately saved her. Working as a model in her teens, Barbara was offered a job a as fashion editor for a then fledgling daily newspaper, “The Toronto Sun.” That led into an opportunity to shoot the weekly fashion spreads.

This week-long program is designed for scientists, engineers, and photographers who need to gather data on rapidly moving subjects and events for study, motion analysis, and trouble-shooting. Mornings are spent in the lecture hall learning the fundamentals for lighting, imaging technologies, and motion analysis. Afternoons are spent making high-speed images in the laboratory. In addition to carrying out the standard techniques, attendees will try out the latest in high-speed-imaging equipment, with the manufacturer’s representatives there to provide hands-on education and experience with the systems.

Very interesting conceptual photography and also some nice landscapes and still life photos.

I have never been interested in photography prior to October 2001. It changed when I voluntarily took up an assignment to develop a homepage for my home town, where I utilized my humble ‘point & shoot’ camera to capture the local images. Like any beginner, the standard of the photos left much to be desired.

Thus begun the journey of an inspiring, interesting and philosophical quest for better photography. The process involved started from the inspiration, to the intense attention and concentration required before pressing the shutter followed by the eager anticipation of the final print. I read extensively on anything to do with photography and art. After reading the series by Ansel Adams, my smouldering passion for photography was fueled further. His dedication for perfection in photography truly amazed and inspired me.
