My name is Francesco Ciabattini. I’m seventy years old and I was born and live in Rome, Italy.

• Degree in Law;
• Specialization in technique and alimentary economy ?
• Mycologist degree.

Three years ago I left my job as a sanitary inspector, where, in the last period, I was in charge of the consultancies control of the mushrooms destined to the Rome market.

Light is a basic ingredient in photography. An uninteresting scene can become a suggesting one by a sudden change of light. The photographer must have enough critical capacity to understand and transmit it to the viewer. Knowing the technique is what helps you to achieve the wanted result.

My projects are rarely predetermined so the most of them spring spontaneously. I shot what charms or interest me, then, as time pass by, apparently unconnected pictures become the start point of a final work with strength and coherence.

These photos are interesting but not as good as the previous photos with insects.

They are everywhere: around us, beside us, beneath us, busy in their small, secret world. Ants, Flies, Spiders and thousands more.

Tiny, alien, comic and fierce, stalk legs and compound eyes, extravagantly built for plain purposes: they fly, they mate, they hunt and feed.
