Joy Stein Photography – Beauty in Detail

Photos Date Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Congratulations!

It is an immense world out there and I’ve chosen to focus on some of the details—the galaxy in a dewdrop, seeds contained in the most extraordinary pod, a gnarled root at the base of an ancient tree. I see tiny capsules of pattern, texture and color.

Imagine walking into a field and your view is the immense landscape in front of you. Re-frame this vision and isolate an object in the landscape, like that golden Mexican poppy. Dropping to my stomach, I crawl to that flower letting my eyes focus on the veins in a single leaf. I call this process finding my Third Eye. I invite you to explore this miniature world with me.

The Concert Photography of Steven Tackeff

Photos Date Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Very interesting for music fans especially.

Steven Tackeff is a master of catching “the moment.” Over the last 6 years Steven has devoted much of his life to shooting live music events. Having photographed well over 1200 national acts in concert, there isn’t a photographer who can match his live catalog. In addition to straight up concert photography, Steven has worked as an official photographer for The Grammys, MTV ( New Year’s 2000-01and MTV 20), VH-1, Open House Party (the largest live syndicated pop radio show in the country) and many other event including major radio shows. Steven has photographed classic rockers, pop divas, country legends, and rising stars ranging from Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to Garth Brooks, The Rolling Stones, and Madonna.

Urban Photography – Sleepy City

Photos Date Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Interesting approach…

The city tumbles across the landscape, it’s vague boundaries eating ever outwards. The root like tunnels burrow haphazardly below while the manmade spires soar far above, spindly fingers reaching for the stars. Between these two extremes the ants of this mad metrolpolis scurry about their business unaware of the back alleys, tunnels and haunts of yesteryear. Unknown to most, beyond that decaying doorframe or rusty metal portal wait adventure and sights few shall see. To reach this parallel world forget about joining fees, contracts and mission statements. All ones needs is a torch and a curious spirit.
